President William Ruto has attributed his weight to a new diet regimen.

While dismissing allegations that his health is deteriorating, the president said it is important for him to get in good shape in order to effectively discharge his duties as the head of state.

Ruto was speaking to journalists’ during a joint interview Sunday evening.

“I have decided to cut down (my weight), ndio kazi iweze kusonga, ile kibarua niko nayo siyo kidogo,” Ruto told journalists.

The president said his weight had increased during the campaigns.

“I have been on my feet the last two years,” Ruto said, “When you have elections you might have some pressure and you might release it on food”.

Kenyans on social media have been questioning the president’s drastic loss of weight with many alleging that the president is unwell.
