Police in Gatundu in Kiambu County have launched investigations after a 55-year-old woman was attacked and murdered while leaving church.
In what is a tragic and shocking event. the assailant reportedly stabbed the woman twice in the neck and then cut off her left breast.
It has been reported that the shocking incident unfolded on Sunday as the victim was leaving church.
Gatundu South Police Commander, Jonathan Koech, confirmed the tragic event.
At the time of going to press, no suspects had been apprehended. The motive behind the heinous act also remains unclear.
The victim, who was residing with her elderly mother, met her gruesome fate in what is doubt going to leave the community in shock.
The police are actively working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the murder and identify the person responsible.
The body of the victim was transported to the Gatundu hospital mortuary at Gatundu Hospital awaiting postmortem.
Police have urged anyone with information related to the crime to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
The tragic incident comes on the backdrop of cases of femicide in Kenya occurring in recent days.
