Kilifi family transfers sick family member to Kenya Power office due to frequent blackouts

A desperate Kilifi family has as a last measure been compelled to transfer their ailing family member to the Kenya Power offices in a bid to access electricity after being subjected to frequent blackouts.

The family expressed frustration, revealing that they had no other recourse after being without power for more than 48 hours.

According to the family, the sick kin requires electricity for her nebulizer approximately four times a day. Urgently needing power but getting none, they could not let their kin suffer.

A nebulizer is a device that delivers medication in mist form, inhaled into the lungs by patients.

“I have my sister-in-law who uses a nebulizer frequently. I was really sad and angry today that we had to bring her here to the Kenya Power offices to try and get electricity so that she can nebulize,” one family member remarked.

“I was only getting a reference number after reference number with no assistance offered,” another family member added.

With no other solution in the near sight, the family has now decided to remain with their patient at the Kenya Power offices until power is permanently restored in their home.

“It looks like they will just have to stay here because around 8 to 8.30 is when she has to use another dose of the nebulizer,” added the family.
