Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) enthusiast and diehard Nuru Okanga has finally enrolled for secondary school studies at St. Aquinas Ebuchinga Day School in Kakamega County. He joins form one after completing last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) at the age of 32.
Okanga sat for his KCPE exams at Mumias Muslim Primary School. When the results were released, Okanga is on record saying he scored more than 400 marks.
The vocal Raila Odinga supporter is on record thanking Roots Party Leader George Wajackoyah for providing him with a well-trained tutor in preparation for the KCPE exams.
He also expressed that his dream was to proceed with studies all the way to the university.
“I will not stop at this level (KCPE). I want to progress to secondary school and ensure I join university because in Kenya for one to be president, you must have a degree. That is where my focus is. Even if I am 70 years, I must contest for the presidency,” he explained back then.
The staunch ODM supporter Okanga explained that he delayed his admission to Form One due to engagements in ‘corporate social responsibilities’.
According to Okanga, while fellow students commenced their academic year on Monday, January 15, he was actively involved in donating books and other school amenities as part of programs funded by various stakeholders.
“People were inquiring whether I would join Form One, but I indicated that I was providing support to other students by donating books and pens, and now finally I’m set to join,” Okanga said.
He further explained that he decided to join a day school so that he would have ample opportunities to learn, while also staying informed about day-to-day politics.
A day school will also allow him the space to spend time with his family.
Despite the standard release time of 6:00 pm, he intends to request the principal to allow him to leave by 4:00 pm to attend to these other responsibilities.
The ardent supporter of Azimio commended his wife for her support and prayers.
“My wife has no problem with it; she will even assist me on this journey. We’ve discussed, and she confirmed that she would pray for my entire journey in school,” he added.
Okanga has also called upon ODM party leader Raila Odinga to support his academic journey by covering his entire fees and rent.
“I plead with Raila to support this cause and pay my fees. We are his soldiers leading up to 2027. He should hold my hand during this entire political journey. Wherever you are, know that I have joined Form One at a time when the economy is hard, so cater to my needs and pay my fees and rent for a full year,” he requested.
