As Nairobi is still reeling from the shock of the gruesome murder of socialite and Pastor Kanyari’s sister Starlet Wahu, a new twist has emerged with suspicions of a possible serial killer rocking the city.
John Ongoa Matara, has been identified as the prime suspect in the murder of 24-year-old Starlet Wahu Mwangi. Now under intense investigation, Matara, who is in custody, faces allegations linking him to multiple assaults and potential serial killings both within Nairobi and beyond.
The latest twist in this harrowing saga surfaced when another victim bravely stepped forward at the Makadara sub-county police headquarters. This victim recounted a horrifying encounter after meeting Matara on a dating platform, where she allegedly narrowly escaped an attempt on her life.
Further reports reveal a disturbing pattern as more victims shared their harrowing experiences.
Another survivor harrowingly recounted a terrifying ordeal that occurred just days after connecting with Matara on a dating site. She described a seemingly pleasant rendezvous that spiraled into a night of terror at an AirBnB, where Matara turned violently aggressive, demanding access to her financial accounts.
“He seemed so nice… He was trying to strangle me so much,” the victim recounted, detailing the chilling assault.
Preliminary police investigations point to Matara possibly targeting women through online dating services, raising concerns of a possible serial killer.
Another courageous victim, choosing to remain anonymous, identified Matara as the individual she encountered, corroborating his involvement.
These revelations unfold following the tragic burial of Wahu, whose lifeless body was discovered in a Nairobi AirBnB. Surveillance footage captured her and Matara entering the premises, ultimately leading to the grim discovery.
‘We Had Not Seen The Man Before,’ Pastor Kanyari
Amidst the chaos, Pastor Victor Kanyari has come out publicly to speak on his sister’s tragic demise. Expressing shock and disbelief, the infamous pastor described Wahu as a vibrant young woman who will be fondly remembered.
“We had not seen the man before. We learned about him after her death. This is so tragic for us, the family, and even her friends. May her soul rest in peace,” Pastor Kanyari mourned.
“I am heartbroken; she was doing so well in life. We last met on Christmas, and on December 31, we spent time together at home,” the preacher added.
Pastor Kanyari also stated that the family had never met John Matara before.
As the investigations continue, the city remains on edge, grappling with the chilling reality of a possible serial killer lurking in the digital shadows of online dating platforms.
