Former Communications Authority of Kenya Director General Ezra Chiloba has been given a fresh opportunity as President William Ruto nominated him as Consul General of the Kenyan mission in Los Angeles, USA.
Chiloba resigned from his position as Director General of the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) on October 19, 2023.
President Ruto announced Chiloba’s nomination on March 8, 2024, along with other appointments to senior positions in the public service, including ambassadors, high commissioners, and permanent representatives to Kenya’s embassies/high commissions and missions abroad.
Chiloba’s nomination is subject to the necessary parliamentary approval process.
President Ruto has already forwarded the nominations of high commissioners, ambassadors, and permanent representatives to the National Assembly for consideration and approval by Parliament, as required by law.
Chiloba served as the DG since 2021, succeeding Francis Wangusi upon his retirement.
Prior to his role at CA, Chiloba was the CEO of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). However, he was removed from his position in June 2018, with then-chairman Wafula Chebukati citing the need for a comprehensive audit of the electoral body’s procurement processes.
