Police in Kisii are investigating the death of a man who was hacked to death outside his gate over what appears to be a land dispute at Bomesichi village, Omosaria sub-location in Bobasi Constituency.
Stephen Mabeya Ndigwa’s body was found mutilated with severe head injuries, approximately 65 meters from his compound.
Reports suggest that the 42-year-old had returned home early on the day of the incident, leaving his gate open.
While inside the house, he informed his wife, Hellen Kerubo, that he was going to close the gate. However, moments later, Kerubo heard screams from outside their homestead, prompting her to rush to the gate.
James Makori, an in-law to the deceased, hinted at a possible connection between Ndigwa’s brutal murder and a pending land ownership case in court. “There is a case in court regarding the land Steve bought here in Nyabisasi,” Makori stated.
The police, alongside the Forensic Crime Investigation Unit from Nyamache, have launched an investigation into the incident.
Ndigwa’s body has been transported to Ogembo Hospital Mortuary for further examination.
