A social media user was on Monday arraigned in court over allegations of publishing “grossly offensive” content on Facebook that allegedly tarnished the reputation of former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.
According to the charge sheet, Bonface Mondi Nyangla—who allegedly operates a Facebook account under the name “Omondi Nyangla”—was accused of willfully posting remarks in the Luo language on April 20, 2025, that were deemed damaging to Kidero’s character.
The prosecution claimed the statements were not only offensive but also detrimentally affected the reputation of the former county boss.
Nyangla was released on a cash bail of KSh400,000 after spending the weekend in custody—a development that sparked protests from his friends and family who decried the arrest as unjust.
