The Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) has granted approval for Africa Travel Investments Limited to acquire 100 percent of Pollman’s Tours and Safaris Limited.

Under the proposed deal, Africa Travel Investments will take full ownership of Pollman’s entire issued share capital.

Pollman’s, established in the 1950s by Karl Pollman, is one of Kenya’s most established safari operators, offering wildlife tours and selling travel packages to clients worldwide. The acquiring company, Africa Travel Investments, is based in Europe and is also active in the safari and travel sector.

In its statement, CAK confirmed the green light was issued after determining that the transaction would not adversely affect competition within Kenya’s tour operations market or raise any public interest concerns.

“This approval has been granted based on the finding that the transaction is unlikely to negatively impact competition in the market for tour operators in Kenya, nor elicit negative public interest concerns,” the Authority noted.

Kenya remains a leading safari destination, home to renowned national parks and reserves including Amboseli, Maasai Mara, and Tsavo. In 2024, the country welcomed 2.5 million visitors, with the government targeting 7 million annual arrivals by 2027, according to President William Ruto.
