Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has officially parted ways with Qatari Stars League side Al-Duhail after a successful four-year spell.
Olunga, 31, leaves the club as its all-time leading goal scorer, having netted an impressive 130 goals since joining in 2021 on a three-season deal. The prolific striker previously played for Japanese side Kashiwa Reysol before making his high-profile move to Qatar.
In Kenya, Olunga made his name at local clubs including Gor Mahia, Tusker, and Thika United before embarking on his international career.
Al-Duhail acknowledged Olunga’s immense contribution in a statement issued on his departure:
“The management of Al-Duhail Sports Club extends its gratitude and appreciation to Kenyan striker Michael Olunga, the club’s historical goal scorer, for what he has given—outstanding contribution and exceptional performance during his career with the first team.”
Olunga’s next move has yet to be announced, but speculation is already mounting about his potential destinations as one of Africa’s most consistent forwards becomes a free agent.
