Kenya’s tennis sensation Angella Okutoyi has officially begun her professional tennis career after relocating to London, where she will base her training and competition schedule as she pursues success on the global circuit.

The 22-year-old will train in south-west London while competing in professional tournaments across Europe, with the goal of improving her world ranking and securing qualification for Grand Slam events during the 2027 season.

Okutoyi enters the professional ranks as Kenya’s most accomplished tennis player, having made history in 2022 by becoming the first Kenyan to win a Grand Slam title after claiming the Girls’ Doubles championship at the Wimbledon Championships.

She further cemented her status as one of Africa’s top tennis talents by winning the women’s singles gold medal at the African Games.

Before turning professional, Okutoyi enjoyed a successful collegiate tennis career at Auburn University, where she recently graduated after representing the university in NCAA competition.

Her transition to the professional tour marks a significant milestone for Kenyan tennis, with London providing access to world-class training facilities and frequent international tournaments.

Okutoyi is expected to begin her professional campaign with tournaments in Germany and the United Kingdom as she embarks on her journey toward establishing herself among the world’s top-ranked players and qualifying for future Grand Slam competitions.
