Cyrus Musyoka Kisavi, a Member of the Kitui County Assembly (MCA) has been arrested by the police over his alleged involvement in the theft of mobile phone accessories valued at approximately Ksh.1.9 million.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Cyrus Musyoka Kisavi, the MCA for Ikanga Ward, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon following an analysis of CCTV footage linked to the incident, which occurred on February 8, 2025.

According to reports, the management of Buscar Courier Services, located along River Road in Nairobi, noticed that they had some missing items in their inventory. The items had disappeared while enroute to a client in Mombasa.

It was at this juncture that they decided to review their CCTV cameras where they caught the culprit – an elected government official.

The reviewed security footage clearly showed the MCA walking away with the parcel in question.

Buscar’s security personnel quickly mobilized and were lucky to to spot the MCA at the courier’s River Road office in Nairobi. He was quickly apprehended before he could flee and then handed over to officers at Central Police Station, Nairobi.

At the time he was caught, he did not identify himself as a member of the Kitui County Assembly.

It was however at the police station that his identity as an elected official was confirmed, after which he was transferred to Mombasa for further processing by detectives handling the case.

“The arrest followed a positive identification after CCTV footage of the scene was analyzed, which captured the suspect leaving with the parcel destined for a client in Mombasa,” the DCI noted in their statement.

This is not Kisavi’s first encounter with authorities after being caught breaking the law.

In September 2024, Kisavi was reportedly involved in another theft incident in Nairobi’s CBD.

According to multiple sources, he allegedly stole a box containing six iPhone Pro 15 devices from a shop. When he returned to the same shop later, shop attendants recognized him and raised the alarm.

A mob quickly descended on him with kicks and blows before police intervened, rescued him and took him to Kamukunji police station for questioning. He was later taken to the hospital for treatment.

He however seemed not have had enough with the law.

In February 2025, Kisavi was once again arrested and arraigned in court, charged with forging vehicle documents intending to defraud the Kitui County Assembly of Ksh.2.2 million.

He allegedly presented false motor vehicle purchase reimbursement documents, intending to deceive the assembly into approving the payment.
