Nakuru, Kenya – June 23, 2025 — Police in Nakuru County are holding a 17-year-old girl in connection with the murder of a 3-year-old child outside PCEA Church Kiugoine on Sunday, June 22. The chilling incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and drawn national concern.
The minor was reportedly lured away from the church before being strangled near the premises. Officers say CCTV footage from surrounding homes helped trace the suspect, who was arrested in Judea Village, Menengai Sub-Location.
“The footage showed the suspect leading the victim away from the church compound,” said an officer involved in the investigation.
Clothes and Murder Weapon Recovered
During the arrest, police recovered:
- The clothes the suspect wore during the incident
- A piece of cloth used to strangle the child
Authorities are now working to determine what motivated the gruesome act, as no clear motive has yet been established.
The teenage suspect is expected in court on Monday, where police will seek to hold her longer for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation.
