NAIROBI, Kenya – The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a steep increase in fuel prices across the country in its latest monthly review, sparking fresh concern among motorists and consumers.
Effective from midnight, the pump prices for all major fuel types — Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene — will rise significantly for the next 30 days.
Here are the new adjustments as per EPRA’s official statement:
- Super Petrol: Up by KSh8.99, now retailing at KSh186.31 per litre
- Diesel: Up by KSh8.67, now retailing at KSh171.58 per litre
- Kerosene: Up by KSh9.65, now retailing at KSh156.58 per litre
The revised prices are based on landed costs, prevailing international crude oil prices, and forex fluctuations. This hike comes amid ongoing economic challenges facing Kenyan households, with increased transportation and production costs expected to follow.
“We urge consumers to use fuel responsibly and seek alternative energy options where possible,” EPRA stated.
The new prices are particularly significant in Nairobi, but similar adjustments will apply across other major towns such as Mombasa, Kisumu, and Eldoret, with minor location-based variations due to freight charges.
