Moses Kuria has officially resigned as President William Ruto’s Senior Advisor on Economic Affairs, marking an abrupt end to his nine-month tenure in the high-profile role.
In a brief statement released Tuesday morning, Kuria announced his immediate departure, citing personal interests as the reason for his resignation.
“As I move on to pursue personal interests, I am proud of the work the President and I did to implement the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which I designed together with the President as our 2022 electoral platform. Long Live Kenya,” Kuria said.
The announcement comes at a time when the government is grappling with public backlash over economic reforms and growing youth-led dissent nationwide.
Kuria was appointed in late 2023 following a stint as the Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Industry. As Senior Economic Advisor, he was tasked with steering Kenya’s economic vision, particularly the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA)—a cornerstone of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
