Harambee Stars forward Masoud Juma Choka has officially declared his intention to contest the Isiolo North parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2027 General Election, signaling a bold shift from football stardom to politics.
Born on February 3, 1996, in Isiolo, Masoud rose from humble beginnings at Isiolo Barracks Secondary School, where he led his team to victory in the Coca-Cola/AFCO Inter-Military Schools Championship. His sharp goal-scoring instincts propelled him to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL), where he played for clubs including Shabana FC, Bandari FC, and Kariobangi Sharks.
In 2017, Masoud clinched the Golden Boot after netting 18 goals for Kariobangi Sharks, a performance that opened doors for international stints. He later turned out for Cape Town City (South Africa), Dibba Al-Fujairah (UAE), Esteghlal FC (Iran), and most recently, Nejmeh SC (Lebanon) in 2025.
On the international stage, the 29-year-old striker has been a consistent presence for Harambee Stars since 2017, amassing 22 caps and 8 goals. He was also part of the historic squad that reached the quarterfinals of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Announcing his bid, Masoud unveiled his campaign manifesto titled:
“From the Pitch to Parliament — Together, We Can Score a Better Future for Isiolo North.”
The footballer-turned-politician says his priorities will focus on youth empowerment, sports development, education, and infrastructure growth, aiming to leverage his global experience to transform Isiolo North.
