Opposition luminaries have vowed to remain united and unshaken ahead of the 2027 General Election, even as PLP party leader Martha Karua formally declared her presidential bid.
The principals — Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DCP’s Rigathi Gachagua, DAP-K boss Eugene Wamalwa, DP’s Justin Muturi, and PLP’s Martha Karua — reaffirmed their commitment to a joint front, warning members against deviating from the opposition unity pact.
Karua’s One-Term Promise
In a bold declaration, Karua confirmed that she would vie for the presidency in 2027 but pledged to serve for only one term if elected.
“If elected president, I will serve for only one term. Kidole kimoja hakivunji chawa… we will field one opposition candidate,” Karua stated.
Her announcement drew applause from her fellow principals, who signaled readiness to negotiate and rally behind a single flagbearer to challenge the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.
Opposition Strategy
The coalition is set to roll out joint rallies, grassroots mobilization drives, and policy forums across the country, aimed at cementing unity and galvanizing support ahead of the high-stakes 2027 contest.
