The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has dismissed as fake a viral letter claiming that party leader Eugene Wamalwa had been removed from his position.
The forged document circulated on social media, alleging that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) held an emergency meeting and voted to sack Wamalwa. It even claimed that Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya had been appointed the new party leader, with Ayub Savula as deputy, and included a forged signature purportedly appointing Seth Panyako as acting secretary general.
However, DAP-K has categorically rejected the letter, insisting that no such meeting took place and that the party leadership remains intact. Officials said the fake letter was created to mislead supporters and sow unnecessary tension within the party.
Governor Natembeya also dismissed the claims, pointing fingers at political rivals allegedly attempting to disrupt DAP-K ahead of the Malava parliamentary election.
“This is a letter circulating among UDA members who know we are about to win the Malava seat. It is a calculated attempt to confuse our people. Ignore it completely,” he said.
Natembeya emphasized that the party remains united and focused: “We are on course, and we are winning the Malava seat. Malava is united. This victory is for Seth Panyako.”
DAP-K has urged members and supporters to rely only on official communications from the party and ignore all fabricated documents.
