In a shocking virtual interview on Thursday, December 4, 2025, with popular YouTuber Shiru Wa Oakland, Betty Bayo’s mother, Mama Betty, revealed explosive claims against the late gospel singer’s estranged husband, Tash. Speaking from her home in the United States, Mama Betty challenged the official narrative surrounding her daughter’s sudden death on November 18, 2025, alleging severe abuse and financial exploitation.
Mother Refutes Leukaemia Claim
Mama Betty flatly rejected circulating reports that Betty died of leukaemia. “My daughter did not die from leukaemia. Betty died from severe head injuries after Tash beat her badly,” she stated, her voice trembling with grief. She recalled a frantic phone call from Betty weeks before the tragedy: “She cried to me on the phone, saying, ‘Mum, who did you leave me with? I’m not safe. Huyu ataniua.’”
Financial Exploitation Allegations
According to Mama Betty, Tash systematically siphoned money from Betty’s music earnings and businesses, using the funds to purchase two heavy-duty lorries in America, each valued at approximately KSh 8 million. The mother alleged that Tash’s financial demands culminated in a violent altercation where he reportedly demanded an additional KSh 5 million while intoxicated, leaving Betty fearing for her life.
Suspicious Circumstances Surrounding Death
Mama Betty questioned how Tash, who had already returned to the United States after separating from Betty, managed to appear at Kenyatta University Referral Hospital in Nairobi within hours of her daughter’s death. She implied that his presence raised concerns about potential prior knowledge or involvement in the tragedy.
Withholding of Critical Documents
The grieving mother accused Tash of withholding key documents, including Betty’s death certificate and Mama Betty’s national ID, preventing the family from accessing bank accounts and completing essential legal processes.
Post-Burial Controversy
Mama Betty also revealed disturbing behavior from Tash immediately after Betty’s burial on November 25 in Kisaruni, Narok County. “On the very night we buried my daughter, Tash brought other women into the home and slept in Betty’s matrimonial bed,” she alleged. She further claimed that Tash overturned a pre-burial family agreement that allowed Betty’s sisters to raise her two young children, Heaven and Skylar.
Appeal for Support
In her emotional appeal, Mama Betty commended Pastor Victor Kanyari, Betty’s ex-husband and father of her first two children, for his unwavering support. “I want to thank Prophet Kanyari because he has never abandoned his children. I’m begging him to go to Betty’s house and check on Heaven and Skylar because they are not safe,” she pleaded.
