Popular digital content creator Lydia Wanjiru has revealed the painful and unexpected challenges she is facing following her recent Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure. The 29-year-old shared that she has been unable to sit properly for five weeks because the transferred fat is still unstable and has not fully bonded with her natural tissue.
In a series of emotional Instagram Story videos posted on Sunday, Lydia—speaking while lying on her stomach in her Lavington apartment—said her recovery has been far more difficult than what social media glamorises.
“Matako haijakauka… mafuta yenye iliwekwa hapo haijashikana with the original matako. The fat is still soft, and if I sit normally, it will shift or die. Doctors told me a minimum of six to eight weeks without putting full pressure,” she said while showing bruising and swelling around her lower back and thighs.
The influencer underwent the KSh 1.8 million surgery last month at a high-end cosmetic clinic in Westlands. She admitted that, although people admire the results online, the day-to-day struggle is rarely talked about.
“People keep asking why I’m always standing or lying down in photos. The truth is, I cannot sit on these new buttocks yet. Even driving is impossible,” she explained.
Medical professionals confirm that avoiding sitting after a BBL is standard practice, since pressure can damage newly transferred fat cells before they fully establish a blood supply. Patients are typically advised to avoid direct sitting for 6–8 weeks.
