Police in Embu have launched investigations into the death of a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student whose decomposed body was discovered in his hostel room on Sunday.
The student, identified as George Wangwe, 23, was a second-year medical engineering student. He had not been seen since Friday, November 28, until his body was found two days later inside his locked room.
According to neighbours, a foul smell was emanating from the room, prompting them to alert authorities. The door had been locked from the inside.
Police officers who responded to the scene broke in and found Wangwe’s body lying on the bed with blood oozing from his mouth and nose. His hands and stomach had developed blisters, while his neck and face appeared swollen, police said.
The body was moved to the morgue for a post-mortem examination as investigations into the cause of death continue.
