American streamer and YouTube sensation IShowSpeed is wrapping up the final leg of his ambitious 28-day tour across Africa, a journey aimed at highlighting the continent’s rich cultural diversity and challenging long-held stereotypes often associated with poverty and violence.
The tour, dubbed “Speed Does Africa,” has taken the 21-year-old content creator across 20 countries in Southern, Eastern and North Africa since late December, beginning in Angola.
Along the way, IShowSpeed attended the Africa Cup of Nations final in Morocco on January 18, before heading to Senegal, where he joined fans in celebrating the national team’s success. His journey also included a stop in Nigeria, where he crossed the 50-million-subscriber milestone on YouTube and celebrated his 21st birthday.
Speaking during a visit to Botswana, IShowSpeed reflected on the impact of the trip, admitting it had changed his perception of the continent.
“I’ve done so many incredible things in my life, but this trip is different. It opened my eyes. Africa is not what I thought,” he said.
Throughout the tour, Watkins streamed live on YouTube, often for up to nine hours at a time, immersing himself in local experiences. His content featured sampling traditional foods, learning cultural dances, interacting with athletes and engaging directly with fans—often in his trademark high-energy style.
At many destinations, massive crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the internet star, underscoring his immense global influence.
IShowSpeed boasts over 50 million YouTube subscribers, alongside 45 million followers on Instagram and 47 million on TikTok, making him one of the most influential digital creators in the world today.
