Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces and President Yoweri Museveni’s son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has sparked widespread backlash after posting a series of controversial and derogatory comments about women on social media.
In a post shared on X, Muhoozi claimed—without evidence—that it had been “scientifically proven” that women he described using a slang term referring to body shape give birth to “stupid kids.”
“It’s been scientifically proven that Nyashless women produce stupid kids”
The term “nyashless,” a slang word which refers to women perceived to lack pronounced buttocks.
He went on to mock women in opposition politics, alleging that many fit the same description and suggesting they are loud critics of his leadership.
”Check out most women in opposition.Nyashless.Then they start shouting Muhonzi.”
The remarks reignited criticism of the general, who has previously drawn condemnation for inflammatory online statements.
Early last year, Muhoozi caused outrage after making comments that appeared to threaten the arrest of women based on physical appearance, saying such women were undesirable for the country’s future.
“I’m sorry, but we will start arresting nyashless women. This is for the future of the country. We can’t have women that look like men.”
The statements were widely criticised by human rights groups and members of the public as sexist, demeaning, and discriminatory.
