Police officers conducting a security operation in Nyamakima area within Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) have intercepted a lorry transporting approximately 90 kilograms of unprocessed cannabis sativa.
According to police, the illicit drugs were concealed in 14 sacks aboard the lorry, which was stopped during routine checks in the busy commercial zone.
Driver, Turn-Boy Arrested
The lorry driver and his assistant were immediately arrested and placed in police custody as investigations commenced.
Officers say preliminary inquiries are underway to establish the source and intended destination of the narcotics.
Arraignment Expected
Police confirmed that the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete, as authorities intensify efforts to curb drug trafficking within the capital.
The seizure underscores ongoing operations by law enforcement agencies to disrupt the distribution of narcotics in Nairobi’s CBD, particularly in high-traffic commercial areas such as Nyamakima.
