Autopsy Confirms Six Nandi Chopper Crash Victims Died of Multiple Injuries, Severe Burns

A postmortem on the six victims of the fatal helicopter crash in Mosop has confirmed they died from multiple injuries to the head, chest and spine.

The examinations were conducted at Lee Funeral Home and led by Chief Government Pathologist Dr Johansen Oduor.

According to the findings, the victims suffered severe trauma during the crash and sustained serious burns after the helicopter burst into flames on impact.

Victims Identified

Those who perished in the crash include:

  • Johana Ng’eno, Emurua Dikir MP
  • Robert Kipkoech Keter
  • Amos Kimwetich Rotich
  • Nicholas Kosgei
  • Wycliffe Kiprotich Rono
  • Retired Colonel George Were (pilot)

Crash at Edge of Chepkieb Forest

The helicopter went down on Saturday at about 4:45 pm at the edge of Chepkieb Forest in Mosop.

Witnesses and officials said the aircraft crashed shortly after attempting to take off from a makeshift landing site near the forest.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
