Members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Parliamentary Group have endorsed a raft of key party resolutions, including the installation of Oburu Oginga as Party Leader and plans to negotiate a coalition with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The resolutions were reached during a joint ODM Parliamentary Group meeting held on March 3, 2026, under the leadership of Oburu Oginga.
First PG Meeting Since Raila’s Address
According to a press statement issued after the meeting, members were briefed on recent party activities, reviewed upcoming programmes within and outside Parliament, and developed positions on anticipated issues.
The session was described as the first Parliamentary Group meeting since the one addressed by the late Party Leader Raila Odinga at the Argyle Hotel on September 22, 2025.
Following what the statement termed “frank deliberations,” MPs approved and upheld all recent decisions taken by the party’s Central Committee and National Executive Committee (NEC).
Key Resolutions Adopted
Among the major resolutions:
- Endorsement of the emergency NEC decision to install Oburu Oginga as Party Leader.
- Backing of the Central Committee’s support for the ongoing working arrangement between ODM and UDA.
- Approval of a structured negotiation process with UDA aimed at forming a coalition ahead of the 2027 polls.
- Endorsement of a decision to withdraw from the Azimio la Umoja–One Kenya Coalition Party.
- Support for pursuing compensation for victims of past election-related human rights abuses, including exploring alternative mechanisms to ensure urgent and conclusive action.
- Approval of a special National Delegates Convention scheduled for March 27, 2027.
The developments signal a significant political realignment as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the next General Election.
