A fire that broke out at the staff quarters of Lang’ata Women’s Maximum Security Prison on Wednesday evening has left at least 30 housing units destroyed.

Extensive Property Damage

According to the Kenya Prisons Service, all the affected houses were completely burnt down in the incident.

Despite the scale of destruction, authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported.

Security Reinforced

Following the fire, security within the staff quarters has been heightened.

Officers from Nairobi West Prison, Jamhuri Prison, and Nairobi Medium Prison have been deployed to maintain order and ensure safety in the affected area.

Investigations Underway

The Kenya Prisons Service has launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire.

Officials say further updates will be provided once more details emerge as authorities work to establish what led to the incident.
