A Form Three student from Ruthimitu Mixed Secondary School in Nairobi’s Dagoretti South is recovering in hospital after he was allegedly stabbed by a fellow student in a violent incident that has shocked parents and the local community.
The 17-year-old, described as a class prefect, sustained a deep stab wound to the stomach and is currently receiving treatment at PCEA Kikuyu Mission Hospital, where he was rushed in critical condition.
According to his family, the ordeal began with a distressing phone call from the school principal, who informed them that their son had been injured. However, the details surrounding the incident were initially unclear.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the parents discovered the severity of the injuries, with doctors confirming that the student had suffered a serious abdominal stab wound.
Preliminary reports indicate that the student was attacked while attempting to intervene in a fight between two other learners—a move that may have put him directly in harm’s way.
Police officers from Kabete Police Station have since arrested the suspected attacker, who remains in custody as investigations continue. Authorities say the suspect could face serious charges, including attempted murder or causing grievous harm.
Detectives have also questioned members of the school’s administration as part of ongoing inquiries into how the incident unfolded within the school compound.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the school principal were unsuccessful, as he was reportedly unavailable by phone and not present at the institution at the time of inquiry.
