Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect identified as Geshu, who is accused of beating his friend to death in Kabiria, Nairobi County.
The victim, identified as Mburu, was reportedly attacked in the presence of his girlfriend during an altercation linked to a stolen vehicle incident.
Suspect Allegedly Stole Father’s Car
According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday after Geshu allegedly took his father’s car without permission to attend a party in Kabiria.
Concerned over the missing vehicle, the suspect’s father reportedly sought assistance from officers attached to Dagoretti Traffic and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kabete to help trace the car.
Suspect Tracked to Chang’aa Den
Authorities allegedly received intelligence that Geshu had been spotted at a chang’aa den in Kabiria.
Reports indicate that the information was shared through Mburu, leading the suspect’s father to reportedly approve his son’s arrest over the alleged theft of the vehicle.
Victim Allegedly Attacked After Suspect Became Suspicious
According to witnesses, the suspect’s father later contacted Geshu and informed him that he had been located at the Kabiria chang’aa den.
Police believe Geshu suspected that Mburu had informed authorities about his whereabouts.
It was at that point that the suspect allegedly turned on his friend and violently assaulted him.
Mburu reportedly sustained severe injuries and died following the attack.
Suspect Still on the Run
The suspect is currently on the run as police continue investigations and efforts to trace him.
Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
