A family from Nairobi is appealing for assistance after their relative, Yvonne Vugutsa Mujukuane, reportedly went missing in Saudi Arabia under unclear circumstances.
According to relatives, Yvonne travelled to Saudi Arabia in January 2024 in search of employment opportunities and was working in Tabuk.
Family Says Communication Became Irregular
Family members say Yvonne was expected to return to Kenya between January and February 2026 after completing her employment contract.
However, they claim communication with her became irregular after she reportedly fell ill while still working abroad.
The family further alleges that her employer declined to release her even after the contract period had ended.
Fears Grow Over Her Safety
Since then, relatives say they have completely lost contact with Yvonne, heightening fears about her safety and wellbeing.
The family is now appealing to Kenyan authorities, human rights groups, and anyone with information about her whereabouts to assist in tracing her.
Concerns Over Welfare of Kenyan Workers Abroad
The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over the welfare and protection of Kenyan migrant workers in Middle Eastern countries.
Families of workers abroad have repeatedly called for stronger government intervention, especially in cases involving illness, contract disputes, or sudden loss of communication.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding Yvonne’s case.
