Political activist Morara Kebaso has announced that he is shelving his political outfit, the Inject Party, and joining the Jubilee Party as he prepares for the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during an interview on Obinna TV on Monday, June 29, Kebaso said the move was driven by the political realities on the ground in the Gusii region, where he intends to contest for the Borabu parliamentary seat.
According to Kebaso, remaining in a smaller political party would make it difficult to gain the support needed to win elective office.
“Inject Party will remain in the cupboard. For now, we are working with the Jubilee Party. We have to go with the realities of the politics of the day,” he said.
Kebaso Eyes Borabu Parliamentary Seat
The activist-turned-politician confirmed that he will be seeking the Borabu parliamentary seat in the 2027 elections, saying his decision was informed by the prevailing political landscape in Kisii and Nyamira counties.
He argued that voters in the Gusii region largely identify with established political parties, making it challenging for independent or lesser-known parties to compete effectively.
“In the Gusii region, you cannot talk of any other party. The people won’t listen and might not give you the opportunity to serve them even with good ideas,” Kebaso explained.
Jubilee’s Growing Influence in Gusii
Kebaso noted that the Jubilee Party has regained popularity in the region following former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s decision to launch his presidential bid under the party’s banner.
He believes the party now enjoys significant goodwill across Kisii and Nyamira, making it the most viable political vehicle for leaders seeking elective positions in the area.
According to Kebaso, ignoring the region’s political dynamics could jeopardize his chances of winning the Borabu parliamentary seat.
From Presidential Ambitions to Parliamentary Race
The latest announcement marks a significant shift in Kebaso’s political journey.
Only a year ago, he declared his intention to run for the presidency and unveiled both his manifesto and the Inject Party as the platform for his national ambitions.
His latest decision signals a change in strategy as he now focuses on securing a parliamentary seat through an established political party ahead of the 2027 General Election.
