Salvation Healing Ministry founder Victor Kanyari has announced plans to transform his church into a free public viewing centre during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, offering football fans an opportunity to watch all matches on large screens inside the church premises.
Speaking during a midweek service on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Kanyari said arrangements were already underway to ensure residents can follow the entire tournament from kickoff to the final whistle.
According to him, matches from the 2026 World Cup will be projected across multiple screens within the church, allowing fans to enjoy live action throughout the month-long competition.
“What I am planning is that we will stream all the matches here in my church, and they will be shown on all the screens in the church,” he said.
The pastor added that the initiative is intended to create a community-friendly environment where football lovers can gather freely to enjoy the tournament.
He further stated that attendees will be offered free meals and soft drinks during the screenings.
“Everyone who comes to watch the games will be given free lunch and soda so that they can enjoy the matches in peace,” he said.
Kanyari noted that due to the expanded format of the World Cup, which features multiple matches daily, the church will remain open for extended hours to accommodate fans from morning to evening.
The move has drawn attention online, with many viewing it as an unusual blend of religious space and sports entertainment, especially given the growing popularity of communal match screenings across the country.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to attract massive global audiences, and such local initiatives reflect how communities are preparing to engage with the tournament beyond traditional sports venues.
