Kenya Kwanza leaders have intensified their political offensive against the opposition and the Linda Mwananchi movement, accusing former President Uhuru Kenyatta of financing a campaign aimed at undermining President William Ruto’s administration.

The leaders also dismissed calls for President Ruto to serve only one term, describing the opposition’s messaging as divisive while reaffirming their commitment to securing his re-election in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during an empowerment event for boda boda operators and residents in Taveta, Taita Taveta County, the leaders alleged that the recent activities of the Linda Mwananchi movement in the region were being sponsored by former President Kenyatta as part of efforts to discredit the Kenya Kwanza government.

They maintained that the alleged attempts to destabilise the administration would not succeed, insisting that the government remained focused on delivering its development agenda.

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot launched a sharp attack on the movement, accusing its members of working to damage President Ruto’s reputation while promoting calls for a one-term presidency.

“Wiki iliyopita wale wakora wa sijui Linda nini walikuwa hapa. Wacha niwaambie kama kuna drug dealers, washerati, extortionists, wezi na wakora ni ile kikundi ilikuwa hapa. Nawajua wote. Eti sasa wananunuliwa na yule jamaa mstaafu eti endeni mkamchafulie jina Rais na kutuambia eti one term…” Cheruiyot said.

President Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet urged Taita Taveta residents to continue supporting the Kenya Kwanza administration, saying the county would benefit from sustained government development programmes.

He also criticised individuals he accused of spreading divisive politics and discouraging investment and tourism, arguing that such actions undermine the country’s economic progress.

The leaders reiterated that the government remains committed to implementing its development agenda despite growing political opposition, expressing confidence that President Ruto will secure another term in office.
