A suspected robbery attempt was reportedly foiled on Saturday after members of the public intervened outside Magunas Supermarket in Kahawa Wendani.
According to eyewitness accounts circulating online, a young man was allegedly spotted following a female security guard who was on her way to work during the evening hours.
Witnesses claim the suspect, who was reportedly in the company of two other men, pretended to know the woman before allegedly drugging her and leading her toward an M-Pesa shop.
The woman later said she had been about to withdraw KSh6,700 and hand it over to the suspect.
The situation reportedly attracted the attention of transport operators and boda boda riders working outside the supermarket, who had allegedly noticed the group behaving suspiciously.
One of the pickup operators is said to have approached the woman and asked whether she knew the man accompanying her. Although she reportedly responded that she did not know him, witnesses said she appeared weak and disoriented.
Upon being confronted, the two other suspects allegedly fled the scene, leaving one man behind.
Members of the public reportedly attempted to apprehend the remaining suspect, but he managed to escape after a brief confrontation.
The claims have not been independently verified, and authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police.
