A police officer attached to Nguka police post in Mwea West, Kirinyaga County escaped death by a whisker after he was caught red-handed with a form one student in his house.
According to reports, the officer had lured the girl to his house situated within the police post compound.
The incident caused an uproar within the village with enraged members of the public raiding the police post in an attempt to torch the police houses.
As the situation threatened to escalate, the officers from the small police post called for reinforcement from the Kiamaciri police station.
According to the teenager’s mother, this was not the first time the officer had defiled her daughter. A trap was therefore laid to catch the officer.
“He was saved from the agitated villagers by the DCI, but I was shocked to see the officer who is supposed to protect my daughter is the one walking away with my daughter in the village,” the aggrieved mother said.
According to the girl’s father, the said officer had used soda to lure the girl into his house.
The officer was later on arrested and locked up at Kiamaciri police station.
The girl was also taken to Sagana sub-county hospital for a medical assessment.
