A Nigerian national is now in police custody following the brutal murder of a woman in Roysambu, Nairobi County. The suspect was arrested on Monday night at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as the suspect attempted to flee to Abuja.
Reports suggest that the arrested man is linked to the gruesome dismemberment of the woman that occurred at a Roysambu apartment on Sunday.
Two additional suspects were also taken into custody at Kasarani Police Headquarters for allegedly aiding the Nigerian national in question.
The breakthrough in the case came as detectives successfully traced the suspect through CCTV footage. The footage revealed crucial moments such as the suspect receiving the key used to access the Roysambu apartment.
Detectives are now trying to piece together available information to uncover the motive behind the murder of the 20-year-old girl.
Kasarani OCPD Joseph Muriuki detailed how the police successfully traced the Nigerian suspect through his phone details, which were used to book the rental room on the day of the incident.
Phone records further indicated that on the night of the murder, the suspect was traced to Ruaka before the phone was switched off.
The suspect is linked to the horrific discovery of a woman’s dismembered body, wrapped in a polythene bag in a Roysambu Air BnB. Reports also indicate the suspect had carried with him the woman’s head.
The shocking incident came two weeks after socialite Starlet Wahu was stabbed during a hookout in an Air BnB in South B. Her alleged murderer, John Matara was subsequently apprehended and awaiting to be charged.
