Online activist James Musa Awandu, also known as Jem Guru or Jumuiyan, was found dead in his house in Ngong, Kajiado County, in what authorities suspect to be a suicide.

The 31-year-old reportedly ingested poison on the night of March 26 and later called the caretaker of his apartment, requesting help. The caretaker quickly mobilized assistance and rushed him to Care Giver Hospital in Kiserian, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police who visited his residence discovered containers believed to have contained the poison, along with a suicide note left on a table. Investigators are now analyzing the note to verify its authenticity, with plans to subject it to a document examiner. However, authorities have chosen not to disclose its contents as the probe continues.

Jumuiyan’s body was moved to a mortuary, where an autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, police continue their investigations into the circumstances surrounding his tragic passing.
