A domestic dispute in Wich-Lum, Siaya County, has ended in tragedy after the body of a 3-year-old boy was found in nearby thickets on Saturday evening. The child, identified as Ian Odeny, is suspected to have been murdered by his father following a quarrel with his wife.

According to Edwin Juma, Assistant Chief of Nyaguda Sub-Location, the boy’s father, 42-year-old Kennedy Omondi, who works as a fisherman at Wich-Lum beach, had a disagreement with his wife, Lilian Anyango, on Friday night. After the altercation, Omondi allegedly left with the child and did not return.

The child’s body was discovered the next day in the Pap-Kado area, hidden in the thickets. Authorities suspect that the father may have killed the boy before abandoning his body.

Police officers visited the scene and transported the body to Bondo Sub-County Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The suspect has been missing since the night of the incident, and a manhunt is underway. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched investigations into the case.
