The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has confirmed two separate fatal incidents involving wildlife, which claimed the lives of a 14-year-old girl and a 54-year-old man in Nairobi and Nyeri counties, respectively.
In a statement issued on Sunday, KWS expressed deep sorrow over the incidents, calling them tragic reminders of the ongoing challenge of balancing wildlife conservation with human safety.
The first incident occurred near the southern boundary of Nairobi National Park, where a lioness reportedly mauled a 14-year-old girl to death on a neighboring ranch.
In the second case, a 54-year-old man died following an elephant attack in Nyeri County.
KWS has pledged to provide more information as investigations into both cases are finalized.
