Tragedy has struck Theta village in Gatundu, Kiambu County, after the body of an eight-year-old girl was discovered in a tea plantation under suspicious circumstances.
The young girl, whose identity is being withheld, was reported missing by her family on May 9, triggering an overnight search by relatives and neighbors.
Sadly, the search ended in heartbreak the following morning when her lifeless body was found dumped in the middle of a tea farm.
Police at the scene confirmed that the child had suffered multiple stab wounds on her neck, back, and chest.
Additionally, a deep cut was found behind her right ear, believed to have been inflicted with a sharp object. There was also a visible cut on the right side of her head.
Authorities say the motive behind the brutal killing remains unclear, and investigations are underway. No arrests have been made so far.
The body was moved to Gatundu Level Five Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to aid in the ongoing probe.
Police have appealed to the public for any information that might help identify the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
