A businesswoman from Kariobangi has accused a man she was in a relationship with of holding her hostage in her own home and threatening to kill her.
Mary Wangui Mueni told the court that the man, who was her lover, turned against her after she asked him to contribute towards household expenses.
She had invited him to live with her as a couple, hoping he would help ease her financial burden.
Joseph Wangira Wabuiri admitted before Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe at the Makadara Law Courts that he threatened to kill Mueni and then take his own life on May 17 at Kariobangi North Estate.
He also admitted to threatening to do something that “would shock the world.”
In court, Wabuiri claimed he made the threats after allegedly finding Mueni with another man inside the house.
