Uasin Gishu- July 19, 2025, 11:00 AM EAT: Detectives in Uasin Gishu are investigating the murder of a university student who was stabbed during an altercation within Kesses. The victim, Elvis Mureithi Morara, 20, was a first-year student at Moi University, pursuing a Bachelor of Information degree.
According to police, the fatal attack occurred on Saturday, July 19, at Talai Centre. Morara was reportedly with a group of students walking to their residential apartments when an argument broke out. He allegedly used offensive language, which angered another student.
The suspect picked up a knife and stabbed Morara in the chest before fleeing the scene. Officers later recovered the murder weapon. Police arrested two students who witnessed the incident to assist in the investigation.
Morara’s body was transferred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary. A postmortem examination is underway.
Murder Case in Bondo, Siaya County
In a separate case, police discovered a man’s body dumped by the roadside in Bondo, Siaya County. The victim had a stab wound on the right rib cage, suggesting a violent attack.
The assailants escaped, and investigators have not yet identified a motive. Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
Suspected Suicide in Pipeline, Nairobi
Tragedy also struck in Pipeline Estate, Nairobi, where Ambrose Wambua, 22, died after jumping from the sixth floor of a residential building. He landed on the ground floor and died on the spot.
Police said he suffered head injuries, which caused instant death.
Man Dies by Suicide in Kisii County
In Nyatieko, Kisii County, 60-year-old James Biraori was found dead in his house. His body was hanging from a rope tied around his neck, indicating a suspected suicide. The case is under investigation by local police.
