Siaya County, Kenya – July 18, 2025 — A tragic incident has rocked Rarieda in Siaya County, where a police officer was brutally murdered late on Thursday night, July 17.
The slain officer, Constable Christone Maundu, was attached to Aram Police Station and is believed to have been ambushed after his official motorcycle stalled due to a lack of fuel.
Murder Near Rarieda Secondary School
According to a police report seen by sauce.co.ke, Maundu had escorted two of his colleagues and was riding back alone towards Aram Shopping Centre along the Ndori–Luanda Kotieno Road.
Unfortunately, his motorbike ran out of fuel midway. While waiting for assistance from fellow officers, he was attacked and left for dead near Rarieda Secondary School, his body found in a pool of blood with visible head injuries believed to have been caused by a sharp weapon.
“The motorcycle was next to the body, and the scene had signs of a violent confrontation,” a senior officer familiar with the case told sauce.co.ke.
Motive Still Unknown, Investigations Ongoing
At this time, the motive for the attack remains unclear, and no suspects have been arrested.
“We are treating this as a cold-blooded murder. Investigators are following leads, and forensic teams are analyzing the scene,” stated a senior official from the Siaya County Police Command.
The murder weapon is yet to be recovered. However, detectives are hopeful that forensic evidence may offer critical clues.
