Nairobi, Kenya – Police in Lang’ata have arrested Benard Kipkosgei, popularly known as Pavilion Motiriot, after a viral video captured him violently assaulting a woman at the Kutit Culture Event held at Carnivore Grounds.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Kipkosgei was tracked down following public outrage and widespread condemnation of the attack. The victim, identified as content creator Bella Comedy, was repeatedly punched and kicked in the shocking footage, which quickly spread across social media platforms.
Police reports indicate that Bella lost KSh 30,000 in cash, a mobile phone, and other personal items during the incident, which occurred on August 9, 2025. The brutality of the attack sparked nationwide calls for justice, with many Kenyans demanding swift legal action.
“We acted immediately, tracing the suspect’s movements until we apprehended him,” police sources told reporters.
Kipkosgei was arraigned on August 11 and charged with assault and robbery with violence. He pleaded not guilty, and the case is set for mention on August 18, 2025.
This high-profile case has intensified discussions about public safety at events, gender-based violence, and the need for stricter enforcement of laws protecting women in Kenya.
