The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has announced the suspension of Dennis Mwanja, the Head Coach of the Kenya Women’s 7s team, following allegations of misconduct.

In a statement issued on Saturday, KRU said Mwanja faces accusations of inappropriate conduct, abuse of power, and undermining the dignity and rights of players.

KRU vows zero tolerance on misconduct

“The Board of the Kenya Rugby Union wants to make it clear that it will not shield any individual whose actions violate the trust and well-being of our players, and remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and safety within the Union,” read the statement.

The suspension comes at a crucial time as the Kenya Women’s 7s squad continues preparations for upcoming tournaments, with the Union now expected to appoint an interim coach.

KRU has not provided specific details on the allegations but confirmed that investigations are underway. The Union reiterated its commitment to player welfare and promised swift disciplinary action should the allegations be substantiated.
