A Kenyan family is in mourning following the sudden death of Roselyne Oyaro, a nurse based in the United States, who tragically passed away while on a flight back to the US after visiting her family in Kenya.
Roselyne, who had been spending time with loved ones in Nairobi, reportedly developed breathing complications midair shortly after departing Amsterdam on her connecting flight to the United States.
According to her family, Roselyne had earlier spoken to them during a brief stopover in Amsterdam, updating them about her journey — a call that would sadly become her final communication.
Emergency Landing Attempt in Canada
Witnesses say that as Roselyne’s condition worsened, medical personnel onboard the plane rushed to assist her as the crew prepared for an emergency landing in Yellowknife, Canada.
Despite the swift response and desperate efforts to save her, Roselyne was pronounced dead before the plane could land.
Family Mourns a Kind and Dedicated Nurse
Her devastated family described her as a brilliant, caring, and selfless woman who dedicated her life to helping others through her nursing profession.
“We have lost a warm-hearted and supportive daughter whose love touched everyone around her,” said a family member.
The family is now making arrangements to repatriate her body to Kenya for burial. Friends, colleagues, and members of the Kenyan diaspora in the US have sent messages of condolence, remembering Roselyne for her compassion and service both at home and abroad.
Outpouring of Tributes
Social media platforms have since been flooded with tributes, with many expressing sympathy and admiration for Roselyne’s dedication to her work and family.
Roselyne’s story has struck a chord among Kenyans abroad, highlighting the emotional and physical toll faced by diaspora families separated by distance.
