Nairobi, Kenya – October 2, 2025 – The murder trial of Nairobi socialite Starlet Wahu resumed at the Milimani High Court, with dramatic new testimony from a crime scene investigator.
Crime Scene Evidence Unveiled
Testifying before Justice Alexander Muteti, Police Constable Allan Njoka, attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Dagoretti, revealed he collected crucial exhibits at Papino Apartment, South B, where Wahu was found dead on January 3, 2024.
Among the evidence documented were:
- A used condom sachet
- A bloodstained knife believed to be the murder weapon
- A handbag and passport belonging to Starlet Wahu
- HIV test kits
- 21 crime scene photographs, including close-ups of the deceased’s injuries
Njoka told the court:
“In photograph 20, I took a close-up of a used condom. Photos 10–15 revealed stab wounds and injuries on Wahu’s forehead, left ear, hand, and thigh.”
The officer added that the bloodstained knife was found hidden behind a sofa inside the apartment.
National Attention on the Case
The prime suspect, John Matara, has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges. However, the evidence presented continues to build a compelling case, keeping the trial in the national spotlight.
The case has reignited debates on gender-based violence in Kenya, with civil society groups urging the judiciary to expedite hearings. According to Amnesty International, femicide cases in Kenya have been on the rise, sparking calls for stronger legal reforms.
