Police in Maralal, Samburu County, are investigating the suspected murder of a 42-year-old man whose body was found inside a house in the Shabbah area.
The deceased, identified as Francis Kipchirchir, was discovered on Saturday, several hours after the killing had allegedly taken place. According to police, the body had a deep cut to the throat, suggesting he was murdered.
Officers who responded to the scene recovered a blood-stained panga and a slasher from a nearby house believed to be connected to the incident. Blood stains were also visible inside the house when police arrived, further pointing to foul play.
In a dramatic development, the mother of the deceased and his brother were arrested in connection with the killing and are currently the prime suspects. Police said the motive behind the murder remains unclear as investigations continue.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination and other forensic procedures.
Authorities say further inquiries are ongoing as detectives piece together events leading to the killing.
