Telecommunications giant Safaricom has unveiled plans to roll out daily Wi-Fi packages for select Kenyans, following the launch of an Ksh800 monthly internet plan under the Affordable Housing Programme (AHP).
Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa made the announcement on Thursday, December 19, during a ceremony marking the handover of keys to more than 4,500 AHP beneficiaries at New Mukuru Estate Phase II in Nairobi. The event was presided over by President William Ruto.
Speaking at the handover, Ndegwa said the newly built affordable homes come with pre-installed internet infrastructure, enabling residents to access connectivity immediately after moving in.
He added that homeowners will pay Ksh800 per month for internet access, with additional flexible packages—covering hourly and weekly subscriptions—set to be introduced in January 2026.
The move is part of Safaricom’s efforts to enhance digital inclusion and ensure that more Kenyans can access reliable internet as the country embraces the digital economy.
