The United Opposition Coalition has announced plans to challenge the results of the recent by-elections in Mbeere North and Malava constituencies, citing alleged interference by senior state officials.
Speaking during a service at AIC Mukuni Church in Machakos County, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the coalition intends to file a legal petition supported by what he described as credible evidence of vote manipulation.
“William Ruto knows that UDA did not win in Mbeere and Malava. We have evidence of direct interference,” Kalonzo told worshippers.
He alleged that security officials faced pressure during vote tallying and that some leaders tampered with ballot totals to favor government-aligned candidates. Kalonzo described the by-elections as orchestrated attempts to secure victories for the ruling party.
“There was no proper vote tallying. We are preparing a very clear and strong petition,” he said.
The Wiper Party leader, who attended the service alongside Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu, and other opposition figures, emphasized that the coalition will unveil a serious legal approach to contest the results.
He further stated that both Kenyans and the international community were observing the country’s democratic process.
“Not just the country — the whole world has been watching. Every trick was employed to create an impression of victory, but the whole world knows the truth,” Kalonzo added.
